The awards highlight vehicles that provide best quality and value in 21 automotive categories that range from hybrids to heavy trucks. The car’s performance, reliability, safety and comfort are some of what is put to consideration when choosing the winners.

"With new cars selling at record prices, shopping for a car that meets both your budget and lifestyle is an overwhelming process," US News Best Cars managing editor Jamie Page Deaton said. "The 2015 Best Cars for the Money awards help car shoppers quickly identify models that are great values and a pleasure to own."

The big winner of the awards was Honda Motor Company with its Acura and Honda brands lading in six of the 21 categories. "In recent years, Honda has focused on providing more standard features in its Honda products and sportier performance for Acura models," Page Deaton said. In the upscale midsize, Acura TLX won , RDX won and luxury compact SUV and the MDX won luxury three-row midsize SUV. Honda Fit won in subcompact cars and hatchbacks categories, while Honda CR-V won compact SUV

Quality is measured by the overall score of the car when the awards are published. The value is measured by five-year total cost of ownership and also the average price paid for the car at the time the awards are published.
