Who Is Backing Pigot for Long Beach, Indy, and Toronto Races

At the age of 24, American racing driver Spencer Pigot seems to have already proven to have what it takes to race both on road and street courses after Ed Carpenter Racing awarded him with a full-time Verizon IndyCar series ride in September, 2017.

This move, however, was perhaps the logical next step for EDR and Pigot. After all, save for four, all of Pigot's Indy car starts have been with Ed Carpenter Racing.

Pigot got his start in youth karting. From there, he joined the Skip Barber National Championship in 2010 and won a title, a Mazdaspeed scholarship, and the Team USA Scholarship so he could compete in the Formula Ford Festival in England. From there, he never looked back, eventually earning the No. 20 car for Ed Carpenter Racing in 2016. He would retain this again 2017, becoming just the first racer to retain the seat for two straight years.

Spencer Pigot went viral late last year after it was announced that one of his sponsors for the 2017 Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach would be none other than Loki the Wolfdog. In case you were wondering, yes, he is an actual dog. He is a wolf, malamute and husky cross that's also one of the biggest Instagram celebrities in the world.

To date, Loki enjoys 1.7 followers who follow his adventures across the American West, as if aimed to give users an excuse to lie down and just look at cute dog Instagram posts all day long.

Ed Carpenter Racing will be responsible for backing Spencer Pigot for the upcoming season. So far, Pigot has not had much luck this 2018. He finished 15th, 14th, 15th, and 15th, in four races so far. He is currently participating in the on-going 2018 Verizon IndyCar series along with Danica Patrick, Jordan King, and Ed Carpenter himself.
