The Shanghai Auto Show just keeps on giving us great cars that we can’t seem to stop marveling about. Be it the new A6 form Audi, which made history by being the first Audi car to ever be made in China, or even Chery’s new A5 model which is bound to do more better than its predecessor, there are plenty of great cars which are currently being showcased at the ongoing Shanghai Auto Show. Not to be left out is Mercedes which also has been, together with Beijing Auto (BAIC), working on a BJ20 concept which they unveiled during the event.
This concept car project is under the watchful eye of Beijing Auto and BJ80C Mercedes-Ben G-Class clone.
According to the two, the study of the BJ20 will preview a compact production SUV which is set to be positioned below the current BJ40. What can be clearly seen is that the car will have an e-electric design which has been cued from brands such as Toyota and Jeep. That said, the designers of the car have managed to give the BJ40 a unique personality, unlike the BJ80C.
According to sources that are close to the matter, the design of the new compact SUV will have a toned down look, but the vehicle itself will be almost the same size as the production model which was previewed.
The BAIC compact SUV is expected to hit the Chinese market in late 2016. Those who will opt to purchase this SUV will have a vehicle that has a 1.5 liter naturally-aspired four cylinder engine which is turbocharged.
